8TH WONDER OF THE WORLD
I had been to Hyderabad for a couple of days and I saw something there which I really found very amusing at first, enough to term it as the 8th Wonder and as a picture of the positive attitude of the Hyderabadis, only to quickly realise the dangerous side of this sight too.
I am very bad in General Knowledge, so kindly excuse me if the 8th Wonder of the world is already crowned. What I coined as the 8th Wonder was a dog chasing our Aircraft in the main runway soon after it landed in the Hyderabad Airport. With due credits to the positive attitude of the dog, but that is definitely one place where it should never have been present.
I hope and believe that the Pilot would have reported the incident to the Airport Authorities and action would have been promptly taken considering the fact the Andhra Government is fast becoming a trendsetter in governance and discipline. From the couple of days I stayed there and speaking to old timers and prominent personalities in the state, I found that a truly serious bend has set-in in the Andhra Government towards Governance and away from politics. Definitely the initial credit goes to Mr. Chandrababu Naidu, but all credit to the current CM for improving upon the momentum and the good work initiated and last but not the least, the proactive response from the people, atleast in Hyderabad, in this endaevour.

I do not know whether Andhra Pradesh is free from corruption and I really do not bother about it so long as it does not affect development and good governance. That is where I advocate “Healthy corruption” since corruption has become like cholesterol in our bodies and we can only choose between “Good cholesterol” and “Bad cholesterol”, but can never totally remove it.

Hari..forget about dogs chasing the aircraft as they land. Its a wonder how your flight took off AND landed. A recent report states that many pilots have been caught red-handed drunk as random blood tests revealed traces of alchohol! Todays Business Line report by a senior pilot himself says that pilots are overworked and work in dangerously stressful conditions! You tell me which is more dangerous - dogs outside the aircraft or drunk pilots inside!

Hari, i encountered a similar funny incident too.. I live in the US, and once, when we took a flight to San Francisco, around 10 minutes before we were supposed to land there was an announcement that we will have to keep circling for sometime and not land, because there's a dog on the runway! :) It was hilarious, almost felt inclined to believe the pilot had made it up :)

The dog part was ... funny. The drunken pilot was definitely not!

What Ravi said is scary. It seems there is not much difference between truck drivers and pilots. Although trucks carry inanimate objects not humans.
